Michael and Cindy George, along with their seven children, were given the opportunity to get away for a one-week vacation together. They had not been able to take a trip to the beach since their 6-year-old son, Landon, was diagnosed with a brain tumor, which he continues to fight with weekly chemo sessions.
This trip was a short reprieve from their reality back home, as Cindy explains,
During their week together, at what the kids referred to as their “beach home,” the Georges enjoyed a show at the Carolina Opry, played at the Family Kingdom Amusement Park and shopped at many beach stores. Most of all, they couldn’t get enough of the adventures at the beach where they spent hours burying each other in the sand, “jumping waves,” building with the sand, digging for “treasures,” and setting out in search of sharks teeth or any other type of “sea creature.”
“When we get back to Greenville, Landon will start his next round of chemo…This trip marks halfway through Landon’s treatment. There are about 35 weeks of his protocol left."
